Toddlers.. where to start..? Well ive heard the term 'terrible two's' but i think its such a negative statement.. Toddlers are not terrible.. they are just too busy learning about everything the world has to offer/touch to have time to listen.. haha
At this stage in their lives they are already so closely bonded to their parents it may take awhile for them to warm up to me, if they do at all.
Mum and dad may have chatted to me a little bit and know whats is going to happen when you arrive at the session but to your little person I am just the stranger, with the BIG weird camera telling them how to sit... sounds fun hey??
As a result, it can be pretty hard to get a positive response and to have them co-operate in front of the camera, there may even be a few shots that don't exactly work...
But I think the best way to gain their trust and co-operation is to have a little chat and a little play with them before and during the session.
I may.. pull some ridiculous faces, I may.. tickle them, I may even dance around like a fool if that's what it takes.. so please don't think im strange..! I am just willing to do what needs to be done to provide your Toddler with a positive photographic experience and you with some beautiful images.
Mr L, in these images has been to my studio before but wasn't feeling up to his shoot, so mum Allie had to come back a second time. At the beginning of his shoot he still wasn't feeling it but we found that a tickle attack.. some seriously embarrassing faces (mine of course.. :-| ) and the promise of a lollipop worked a treat! By the end of our session I even got a BIG cuddle goodbye!
I'm not saying that I am a 'toddler whisperer' or anything like that.. I'm just saying I promise to give it everything Ive got to provide you with images to cherish for a life time :)
So if you have a little person you are worried wont be up to it, maybe just give it a go.. you never know what may happen! :)
